We are inspired by subtracting to materials as a creative process or just cutting holes in a variety of materials.

Pasta Circuit Board

Experiments with laser cutting and engraving -I have made cutting experiments on paper, card and acrylic; shapes, holes
One motif is taken from the solderless breadboard, used for prototyping electronics circuits: A grid of holes 0.54 mm apart.

A more involved cut - from a of a PCB design stencil. In fact the real thing. Apart from etching onto copper plate, the second most common method is to engrave off the area around traces on a copper plate, or cut out the copper from a sheet material.
Here shown in thin black card (not easiest illustration)
However, with conductive traces this could work.
